COMPANY AND MANAGEMENT STAFF BACKGROUNDS
The Meat Handler Company originally formed in 1982 by Kathy Pearce and
Christopher Kuehnel under the name of New Age Computer Systems. Their mission
statement: "TO CREATE A POSITIVE INFLUENCE ON THE MEAT INDUSTRY BY
PROVIDING PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT INSIGHTS AND TOOLS". The management staff
hails from agricultural backgrounds and combined their expertise to shape a
small and highly innovative company. The meats division, the Meat Handler
Company, was created in 1990.
Today, the Meat Handler Company has installations in 37 states and
Mexico, and has enjoyed working with several international meat projects. Since
1990 the company cooperated with meat research projects involving the University
of Wisconsin, the National Pork Producers Council, Purdue University, Texas
A&M and the United States Department of Agriculture.
The Meat Handler Company’s membership in three national and over a dozen
state meat and food related associations also keep the staff in contact with the
industry and meeting meat managers needs through harnessing new technology.
The Meat Handler Company practices a straightforward, bottom-line approach to
customers. Products are developed to help plant operators maximize their
resources and profits while developing new markets for their products.
Backgrounds
Meat Specialist, Kathy Pearce’s expertise is in meat science.
It is backed with a degree in Meat and Animal Science and meat lab working experience from the University of
Wisconsin in Madison. After course work, she worked in both retail meat and
federally inspected meat processing operations. Currently she oversees sales,
customer support and system documentation. She frequently consults in the areas
of product design, formulations and marketing. Pearce followed through on collegiate training with the meat judging team, as she continues to judge at
state and national meat product competitions.
Technical Services and Development Director, Christopher Kuehnel’s
degree
in Agricultural Business Management and Computer Science provides a base for the
technical division. His high level of technical ability blends well with system
analysis and design, and he excels in meat mathematics and modeling. Clients
frequently call on him to assist with incorporating new technology changes and
optimization projects.
Kuehnel’s on-site installation and training capabilities provide a direct
connection to the staff that makes the wheels of the meat industry turn. His on-going attendance and
participation in computer and meat industry events assures
his knowledge can be applied across a broad base.
Other staff members bring experiences in many areas to assist in
the success of day to day operations at the Meat Handler Company: data
processing, travel school, behavioral sciences education, accounting,
management, library sciences, supervising, gardening, and knowledge and
experience with meat cookery.
