COMPANY AND MANAGEMENT STAFF BACKGROUNDS

The Meat Handler Company originally formed in 1982 by Kathy Pearce and Christopher Kuehnel under the name of New Age Computer Systems. Their mission statement: "TO CREATE A POSITIVE INFLUENCE ON THE MEAT INDUSTRY BY PROVIDING PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT INSIGHTS AND TOOLS". The management staff hails from agricultural backgrounds and combined their expertise to shape a small and highly innovative company. The meats division, the Meat Handler Company, was created in 1990.

Today, the Meat Handler Company has installations in 37 states and Mexico, and has enjoyed working with several international meat projects. Since 1990 the company cooperated with meat research projects involving the University of Wisconsin, the National Pork Producers Council, Purdue University, Texas A&M and the United States Department of Agriculture.

The Meat Handler Company’s membership in three national and over a dozen state meat and food related associations also keep the staff in contact with the industry and meeting meat managers needs through harnessing new technology.

The Meat Handler Company practices a straightforward, bottom-line approach to customers. Products are developed to help plant operators maximize their resources and profits while developing new markets for their products.

Backgrounds

Meat Specialist, Kathy Pearce’s expertise is in meat science.  It is backed with a degree in Meat and Animal Science and meat lab working experience from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.  After course work, she worked in both retail meat and federally inspected meat processing operations. Currently she oversees sales, customer support and system documentation. She frequently consults in the areas of product design, formulations and marketing.  Pearce followed through on collegiate training with the meat judging team, as she continues to judge at state and national meat product competitions.

Technical Services and Development Director, Christopher Kuehnel’s degree in Agricultural Business Management and Computer Science provides a base for the technical division. His high level of technical ability blends well with system analysis and design, and he excels in meat mathematics and modeling. Clients frequently call on him to assist with incorporating new technology changes and optimization projects.

Kuehnel’s on-site installation and training capabilities provide a direct connection to the staff that makes the wheels of the meat industry turn. His on-going attendance and participation in computer and meat industry events assures his knowledge can be applied across a broad base.

Other staff members bring experiences in many areas to assist in the success of day to day operations at the Meat Handler Company: data processing, travel school, behavioral sciences education, accounting, management, library sciences, supervising, gardening, and knowledge and experience with meat cookery.
