FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Year 2000 Meat Handler® Upgrades Completed!Changeover accomplished without any significant glitchesJanuary 5, 2000 -- Cleveland, Wisconsin USA. "With nearly two years of preparation, the change over to the Year 2000 went very well" commented Christopher Kuehnel, Senior Technical Partner at the Meat Handler Company here. Software provided by the Meat Handler Company to clients was checked for the correct versions, equipment and operating system inventories at customer sites were reviewed starting as far back as June of 1998. Most sites upgraded hardware and network system components from July of 1998 thru July of 1999. The Meat Handler company assisted with upgrading operating system, accounting software, and other horizontal packages throughout most of 1999. The Meat Handler programs were upgraded in the field to handle the date
issues which had required about two years of part time programming efforts to adapt,
document, and
test. Several test sites operated the software parallel to their own for
as much as 6 months. "Much of the success of the Y2K capable versions
of our software is due to the great cooperation we received from our test
sites" said Kuehnel. With many older generations machines out in the field, this was a good opportunity for clients to get up-to-date technology with large leaps in speed and reliability. "We prepared ourselves and our clients for the worst and were pleased not to need any of the emergency solutions we all planned for" said Kuehnel. "To date, no bugs or glitches related to the Y2K changeover have been reported by our customers." The Meat Handler Company has provided quality software and consulting to meat management operations in North America since 1982.
