The Excalibur Seasonings staff and co-host Meat Handler Company representatives greeted the American Association of Meat Processors members during a tour and reception at the plant in Pekin, IL. 18 busloads of convention attendees enjoyed refreshments, door prizes and a complete buffet meal with BBQ meats in a delicious presentation. The plant open house was interesting and educational, with many of those touring already getting their seasonings from Excalibur. Members observed the blending of seasonings, the shipping procedures, research and development and met the office staff. Their eleven station computer network was demonstrated as it performs throughout the plant in a variety of tasks. Plant Manager Tom Hornstien related "since 1997, the Meat Handler software has been the tool that has helped us handle our continued growth". The Meat Handler software was put into action in several areas-from recipe tracking and resizing to package preparation and billing. Keeping track of customer histories is very important to Jay Hall, Excalibur’s president. Kelli Widder, Convention Coordinator at the Meat Handler Company exclaimed, "These folks really had a good time getting an understanding of how spices are prepared for further use in food processing."
